Alicia started practicing yoga in 2005 while teaching at an international school in Indonesia. One of Alicia’s colleagues knew a yoga teacher, so they hired her to come after school once a week and teach yoga to them yoga. Alicia was hooked and never looked back!! Alicia never feels more relaxed, centered and able to handle life’s challenges than when she’s regularly practicing yoga. She also believes so firmly in yoga’s philosophies of non-attachment, acceptance, and the importance of seeking a calm mind because as she works to incorporate these principles into her own life and practice, she feels like a calmer, happier person. Alicia also loves the strengthening , flexibility, and balance that are cultivated through a regular yoga practice.
Alicia was certified by Focus Yoga in 2013. She is so grateful for this training because it was incredibly thorough and because of the commitment they make to supporting their trainees. Alicia is thrilled now to be back at FocusOm and its fantastic students, warm environment and quality instructors!
Alicia loves a vigorous vinyasa flow, but knows that she needs to include more yin and restorative yoga into her life. Balance is everything. One of her favorite poses is Triangle because it is so expansive and joyful. Alicia also loves any and all arm balances.
For someone just staring out in yoga Alicia lets them know there is no judgment or comparison of yourself and others. Yoga is a deeply personal experience. One of her favorite mantra’s is “Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu”; May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.
